A paper card stays with whoever holds it, and nobody can update it when you change employer. A digital card is different: it is a live page, so what it shows after you leave your job depends on who manages it and what they change. A little planning keeps clients from reaching a number that no longer answers.
First, know which account holds the card
A MyInfo card belongs to the account that created it. If you made your card yourself and signed in with your own email, it is yours. If an office manager or admin created your card inside a company account, they manage it. Check this before you hand in your notice. See create a card for someone else or your team for how team accounts are usually set up.
If the company manages the card
The company can edit the details so clients are directed to your replacement: change the name, title, phone and email in edit your card details, or set up a new card for the new person and apply the company theme. Do not keep using a shared card address for a personal brand you have not agreed to carry over. Card addresses are permanent once chosen, so a company address belongs to the company; see choose your card address.
If you manage the card yourself
Open the card and update your job title and company the day you start the new role, as in what to do when your job title or number changes. Your address, QR code and any NFC card you own keep working, because they point to the same card. If your new employer has its own card style, you can create a separate company card rather than editing your old one.
A short handover checklist
- Export any leads you collected from the card, if you have Premium. See export your leads.
- Tell clients where to reach you or your replacement, and share the new card link.
- Remove or replace links that point to your old employer's pages.
- Test the QR code and NFC card on your own phone.
Frequently asked questions
Will my old QR code still work after I change jobs?
Yes. The QR code points to your card's address, and the card shows whatever you edit.
Can I keep my card address?
If the card is on your own account, yes, the address stays the same. Choose personal addresses for personal cards and company addresses for company cards so this question never arises.
