Personal card vs company card: what's the difference?

A MyInfo account can hold a personal card and a company card. Here's the real difference between them, and how to decide if you need one, the other, or both.

Ask ten small business owners what belongs on their digital business card and you'll get two different answers: a personal card built around one person's name and direct number, or a company card built around the business itself. MyInfo doesn't force a choice — one account can manage several cards — but most people don't stop to work out which one, or both, they actually need. Here's the real difference and how to decide.

What a personal card is for

A personal card leads with your name, your photo, your direct mobile number and your own job title. It's the card you hand over at a meeting, tap at an event, or put on LinkedIn and Instagram — every detail belongs to you specifically, not to whichever company you happen to work for today. If you change job or move employer, you update the company and title fields and keep the same address and Save Contact history you already built.

What a company card is for

A company card leads with the business: its name, a general enquiries number or email, a short description of what it does, and links to booking, WhatsApp or a price list. It's useful anywhere no single person should be the point of contact — a reception desk, a trade-show booth staffed by rotating colleagues, or a QR code on a shopfront window. You set it up the same way as any card, just with the business's own details in the Content tab instead of a person's.

Do you need both?

Most freelancers and solo professionals only need a personal card — there's no separate business identity to represent. A company with more than one person meeting clients usually benefits from both: a personal card for each team member (see setting up cards for your whole team) plus one company card for situations where no single staff member is available, like a general reception line or an unstaffed booth. Running two unrelated businesses under your own name is a different problem — see duplicating a card for a second business instead.

Keep them on brand without confusing visitors

A personal card and a company card can share the exact same look. Save your company's colours, fonts and layout as a theme once, then apply it to both, so a visitor recognises the brand whether they scanned the reception desk's QR code or tapped a colleague's personal card. Free accounts can save one custom theme, which covers this pattern for a small team; accounts with a Premium card can save more.

Setting it up

Both cards live under the same MyInfo account, so there's nothing extra to sign up for. Create your personal card first, choosing an address such as myinfo.ae/yourname — addresses are permanent, so pick carefully. Then create a second card for the company with its own address, such as myinfo.ae/yourbusiness, and fill in the business's own details instead of your own.

Frequently asked questions

Can one MyInfo account really hold both types of card?

Yes. An account isn't limited to a single card — you can create as many as you need, each with its own address, content and plan. A personal card and a company card are simply two cards under the same account.

Does a company card cost more than a personal card?

No. Every card, personal or company, starts on the free plan with the same templates, sharing options and Save Contact. Premium — lead capture, analytics and private cards — is set per card, not per account, so you only pay for it on whichever card actually needs those features; see the pricing page for what's included.
