Most people open your card from a tap or a scan. But some will type your name into Google, or browse the MyInfo directory, looking for you. If you want your digital business card found online in the UAE, a few simple choices on your card decide whether it is eligible. This guide covers them, and what not to expect.
Two ways people can find you without a link
A public MyInfo card can appear in two places besides the link, QR code or NFC tap you share yourself:
- Search engines, such as Google, when someone searches for your name or company.
- The card directory, a public list of people and businesses on MyInfo. Each entry links to the card and shows the name (or company), job title and company.
Eligibility is the same for both: the card must be public and have a name or company on it. See privacy and access.
Fill in the details search engines read
A card with no name and no company is not listed. Open the Content tab and set your display name, company and job title, as described in edit your card details. Use your full name the way people write it, and your trading name as customers know it. A clear job title helps both people and search engines place you. Exact ranking is up to the search engine, and no card can promise a position on the results page.
Choose an address that matches your name
Your card address is the part after myinfo.ae/, and it cannot be changed once the card exists. A freelancer or agent usually does best with their own name, and a salon or clinic with the trading name customers already use. Write an About text that says what you do
Use the About text to say what you do, who you serve and where, in plain words. A short, specific paragraph is more useful to a visitor than a slogan. For examples, see write a bio that gets read. Keep it current
An outdated card does your name no favours. Update a role, number or service as soon as it changes, from the same Content tab. It takes seconds, as shown in update your digital business card in 30 seconds.
When you do not want to be found
Visibility is a choice. A Premium card can be set to Private with a six-digit access code. A private card is never listed in search engines or in the directory. See make a digital business card private and the help article make a card private.
Frequently asked questions
Will my card appear on Google straight away?
There is no fixed timing. MyInfo makes a public card with a name or company eligible to be listed, but search engines decide if and when they show it, and in what position.
How do I take my card out of the directory?
Set the card to Private, which needs a Premium licence PIN from a partner. A private card is not listed in search engines or the directory.
