How to make a digital business card private

Step by step, how to lock a Premium MyInfo card with a six-digit access code — and when a private card makes more sense than a public one.

Most digital business cards are meant to be found by anyone with the link — that is the whole point. But some cards are not for everyone: a card you hand to a handful of VIP clients, an internal team directory, or a personal card you would rather keep out of Google. For those, MyInfo lets you flip a Premium card from public to private in under a minute.

When a private card makes sense

How the access code works

A private card asks every visitor for a six-digit access code before it opens. Only people you share the code with can get in — no account or app is needed on their side, just the code. You can view or change the code yourself at any time, and switch the card back to public if your needs change. Full detail is on privacy and private cards.

Set it up

  1. Open your card in the editor and go to the Settings tab.
  2. Select the pen beside Privacy.
  3. Set Visibility to Private.
  4. Enter a six-digit access code and save.

That's it — share the code however suits the audience: verbally, on an invitation, or in a follow-up message. Full steps are in make a card private.

What changes once a card is private

A private card is dropped from the MyInfo card directory and is not indexed by search engines, even if it has a name and company on it. Visitors who do not have the code see only the prompt, nothing else. Everything else about the card — theme, sections, links, lead capture — works exactly as it does on a public card.

Private is not your only option

If a card exists to do one thing — send someone straight to your WhatsApp or a Save Contact download — you may not need privacy at all, just the bypass setting described in send visitors straight to your contact. And if the real concern is a specific field rather than the whole card, keep your personal number off your card may be the simpler fix. Private cards suit real estate agents sharing listing details with pre-qualified buyers, or events and networking organisers running an invite-only guest list.

Frequently asked questions

Is making a card private a Premium feature?

Yes. A free card is always public; private cards with an access code require Premium, activated with a licence PIN from a MyInfo partner. See plans and pricing.

What happens if I forget my access code?

Nothing is lost. Sign in to your dashboard, open the card's Privacy settings, and view or change the code yourself at any time.
