On this page
A full digital business card is useful when someone wants to browse: your bio, your links, your videos. But a card left on a reception desk or printed on a stand often only needs to do one thing — save your number, or open your WhatsApp. Asking a visitor to land on the full page and then find that one link is an extra tap they did not need. MyInfo's bypass setting removes it.
What bypass actually does
Turn bypass on and every visitor who opens your card — by NFC tap, QR code or link — is sent straight to a single destination instead of your full profile. You choose that destination: Save Contact, which downloads your .vcf file directly, or one of your saved social links, such as WhatsApp. See send visitors straight to your contact for the exact steps.
Nothing about your underlying card changes. Your photo, links, videos and text sections are all still there — bypass simply skips past them for the visitor, until you turn it off again.
When it earns its place
- A card at a reception desk or shop counter, where the only goal is getting a repeat visitor's number saved without them scrolling a profile.
- A stand at an exhibition, where you would rather every tap open your WhatsApp than your full card — see digital business cards for events and networking.
- A card printed on packaging or a till receipt, where a customer scanning it just wants a fast route to your enquiries number.
- A sales team's shared stand card — see digital business cards for sales teams — where the point of contact is one WhatsApp line, not twelve individual bios.
If your card's job is to be browsed — links, a portfolio, a video — leave bypass off. It is a tool for single-purpose cards, not your everyday one.
Save Contact or a social link?
- Choose Save Contact when the goal is simply getting into someone's phone — see one-tap Save Contact for exactly what a visitor receives.
- Choose a social link when you want the conversation to start immediately, for example a WhatsApp number that opens a chat the moment someone taps.
Either way, bypass points to something you already have on your card — you are choosing which one visitors see first, not adding anything new.
Test it before you rely on it
Before printing a stand or handing out cards with bypass switched on, open your own card on your phone the way a visitor would. Confirm it lands on the destination you expect, since with bypass on nobody will see your photo, links or videos unless they know to ask. If you change your mind, edit your card details and switch bypass back to None — show the full profile at any time.
One setting, several cards
If you run more than one card — one for your day job and one for a side business, or one per team member — bypass is set per card. A stand card can skip straight to Save Contact while your personal card still shows your full profile, with no conflict between the two.
Frequently asked questions
Does turning on bypass delete anything from my card?
No. Your photo, bio, links, videos and text sections all stay exactly as they are. Bypass only changes what a visitor is shown first; turning it off restores the full profile immediately.
Can I use bypass with NFC and QR at the same time?
Yes. Bypass applies to the card itself, so it works the same way whether someone opens it by NFC tap, QR code or a direct link — the destination does not depend on how the card was opened.
