Digital business card vs UAE PASS and digital ID: what's the difference?

Searching for a digital business card in the UAE often returns digital ID pages. Learn how a MyInfo card differs from UAE PASS and what each one is for.

Search for a "digital card" in the UAE and you will often land on pages about digital identity, not business cards. The two are easy to mix up, but they do very different jobs. This post explains the difference so you know which one to use when you meet a client, and what a MyInfo digital business card does and does not do.

Two different jobs

A digital ID, such as the UAE PASS app, is the national digital identity. It is used to sign in securely to government and private-sector services and to sign documents digitally. Its purpose is to prove who you are to an organisation.

A digital business card is the opposite kind of tool. Its purpose is to tell people how to reach you: your name, role, company, phone, WhatsApp, links and a Save Contact button. You decide what is on it, and you want it to be easy to share.

What a MyInfo card does

A MyInfo card is a single web page at an address such as myinfo.ae/yourname. It opens on any phone with no app, and you share it by link, QR code or NFC tap. Visitors can save your contact details in one step. See what a digital business card is.

What a MyInfo card does not do

A MyInfo card is not an identity document. It does not verify who you are, it is not linked to government services, and it should not replace any official ID. Anyone can read your card, so it only needs the details you are happy to share with a new contact.

What belongs on each

Keep official identifiers, such as your Emirates ID details, out of your card. If you need to show your trade licence number to build trust with clients, you can add it as a text line yourself. See show your trade licence number on your card. Use your digital ID for official transactions, and your card for introductions.

Keep your card safe to share

Cards are public by default, and public cards with a name or company can appear in search engines and the card directory. On Premium you can make a card private with a six-digit access code. Read what is public on your card and the privacy and access feature page.

Frequently asked questions

Can a digital business card replace UAE PASS or my Emirates ID?

No. A digital business card is a contact page you share on purpose. It does not prove your identity and is not accepted as an ID. Keep using your official digital ID for government and verified services.

Should I put my Emirates ID number on my digital business card?

No. A card is meant to be shared openly, so only include details you are comfortable giving to any new contact. Business contact details and, if you wish, your trade licence number are enough for most introductions.
